We are "Called to Care."
A new kind of community conversation.
2pm-4pm
Are modern people supposed to dominate each other & other life?
In the Spring of 2022, a little magazine based in Austin called AllCreation.org, published "Dominionism", guest-edited by Rev. Dr. Dan De Leon. In this collection, Dan explored the meaning of Genesis 1:26 with a variety of Faith leaders and asked them, "How can you be a [_________] and not be the center of the universe?"
Then, this Summer AllCreation began exploring the ideas of kinship and connectedness, learning:
"Everyone just wants to be an important individual in a nurturing community."
We feel in this era of alienations, polarizations, and so on, it is time to gather for a conversation about Care as identity.
With this event, we are hoping to assemble a diverse community --secular, sacred and self-defined, to discuss the Biblical idea that humans are "called to care" for each other, self, and Earth's other life.
How might caring more about individual relationships and cultivating nurturing communities help us all today?
We'll begin with 30-minutes of panelist perspectives, followed by a 45-minute Town Hall. Audience members are requested to share their views and questions with the panel during the Town Hall. We'll conclude with some social time.
There are SO MANY good people in Central TX: religious and non. Let's connect. Let's build a stronger community.
